1.0   PENGENALAN FONETIK DAN FONOLOGI 1.1 Definisi fonetik          Menurut Kamus Dewan (1996:354), fonetik ialah ilmu bahasa (llinguistik) yang berkaitan dengan penyebutan kata dan lambang yang menunjukkan sebutannya. Manakala mengikut Merriam Webster’s Collengiate Dictionary tenth edition (1996:873), fonetik dikatakan sebagai “thesystem of speech sounds of a language or group of languages”.Kamus OxfordAdvanced Learner’s Dictionanry of current English (1992:671) fonetik merupakan “the study of speech sounds and their production”.
